VetCare Animal Clinic is a fully registered, environmentally friendly, Companion Animal Veterinary Facility, situated in Brackenfell, Oostenberg Municipality, Western Cape, South Africa.
The Veterinary facility uses the sun to produce energy…lots.. and lots of it… in abundance.
The facility needs to generate reliable and sustainable energy to ensure:
- less dependency on Eskom
- tariffs that are locked in and affordable
- long term energy stability and
- security needs
The sensitive laboratory, X-Ray, sonar, anesthetic and operating facilities need to be available and operational 24/7 to ensure immediate on demand availability, access and usage. Waiting room clients and hospitalised patients must be able to enjoy the privilege of air-conditioned heating or cooling throughout the facility when needed. The advantages, regardless and irrespective, are self-explanatory.
Dr Taitz, the principal veterinarian is passionate about animals and the environment.
Winelands Solar installed:
- 3 x 5KVA (4Kw) Axpert UPS inverters (in parallel connection) to this single phase property in Brackenfell.
- The 36 x 215w modules on the roof of this facility generate 7,7Kwp.
- The batteries’ capacity are enough to store 14,4Kw back-up power.
Dr Taitz phoned Pieter, our Technical Manager, on the 3rd Monday after switch-on, asking whether he should worry. His problem was that he used R3.55’s from Eskom’s electricity during that Sunday night, whilst he used no Eskom electricity during the previous 2 weeks. Anyone in this position would be highly satisfied with this investment and proud about the part we all should be playing in saving the planet…!
The next phase is wind harnessing for assistance, synchronisation and a greater efficiency for his Solar System.
You too can make a difference.
